Eger Wine Region
Juhász Péter – Eger, Hungary
The world famous historical wine district of Eger is situated about 120 km east of Budapest, on the southern foothills of the Bükk mountains. In the centre of this picturesque countryside, two generations of the Juhász family have grown grapes and produced wine. Our winery, which dates back to the 1700s, can be found among the famous, historical wine cellars of the well known Szépasszonyvölgy (Valley of the Beautiful Women).
Our vineyards, which cover an area of 14 hectacres, are situated on the most famous hills in Eger and we make wine only from our own grapes. Along side the traditional wines of Eger we also offer internationally recognised wines in our wine selection. In the wine making process we combine traditional proven methods, used for centuries, with today’s technology, always striving for the highest quality. Our white wine is produced using the fast reductive treatment while our red wine requires a long maturation process in oak wood barrels and bottles.
Our wines have achived really good results both in hungarian and international wine competitions.
We have opened our new wine bar / wine cellar in ”Szépasszonyvölgy”, offering pleasant surroundings and the perfect rustic setting for wine tasting. Situated at the end of the wine cellar is our wine museum where you can experience the athmosphere of a real Eger wine cellar with its oak-wood barrels and wine racks. If someone likes our wine it is also possible to rent his/her own private wine rack, where one can store the wines bought from the winery.
We can organise wine-tasting for up to 140 people, with cold or warm dishes, but this wine cellar is also the perfect place for friends to get together and family programmes.
